What is the world?
Since my earliest years I have asked myself that question. For example while closing my eyes alternatly - which resulted in a different view onto things. This question never left me - in contrary, it became more and more powerful.
"Beside" studying econmoics I had to start my own search. One question was followed by many others: Is the world a product of our mind or is it the other way round? What consits the mind of? Where do our thoughts come from? Is there still a world when we do not look at it?
One of the last great frontiers, a map with many white spots is right within us.
We are told to accumulate material wealth beyond our fundamental needs. Working with wealthy customers in the financial industry I realized, that this couldn`t be our real, only purpose in life. Once achieved, there is still no satisfaction. I studied philosophy, art, neuroscience, religious texts and finally discovered that, from a certain point on, the mind might not be the right tool to discover the mind. In order to "see" what`s behind the mind, what it is made from, it has to become completely silent. It needs to disappear - at least for a moment. Normally we try to solve our problems, answer our questions, by doing a lot of thinking. That`s not working here as thinking is the problem - or the other way round: the problem exists only within our thoughts.
The purpose of my work, of this website is: Art has always been a way to point to the unknown, to speak when words are not offering satisfying answers. I want to point to the white spots within our knowledge, empower and motivate you to go discover yourself. I hope that all my artworks serve you as unique, innovative and aesthetic signposts on your own way - and remind you to always go on discovering.
All the best,
The main theme of my artwork is actually our mind - the place where art (the world) takes place. In order to exist, statues, paintings and photographs must be seen and translated into thoughts/emotions. So in first place, my work (like any other artists work) is a display of (my) thoughts creating other (your) thoughts. But there is a lot more to it. I want to direct your attention towards the "space" behind thinking. As this "space" cannot be discovered through thinking (it would be just another thought then), the only possible way is approximating “emptiness”, leaving behind all thoughts, expectations, forms, colors,... and art itself. So, the “most important” part of my work is the "empty space" right within paintings and graphics. It is the origin and the final destination of all thoughts, forms, colors, art - of life itself.
